Here are some more details about the NEWS, the main scale that we would like participants to use.

We have also abbreviated the NEWS to the ANEWS. More details are available. Some IPEN members may have already started using the longer NEWS so we are making both versions available.

The surveys which were used in the PLACE study are also available for download (PLACE Survey1.pdf, PLACEsurvey2.pdf). You can see how the items varied for the Australian sample. You can see the differences in this comparison table. (NQLS_PLACE_comparison.xls)

Likewise we expect there will be different environmental variables in your country, and recommend that you investigate these and include them in your survey. Although we will not be able to directly compare such differences quantitatively across all countries, additional items will help to describe qualitatively some of the difference between cities and countries. It may also be that groups of countries such as Scandinavia or Europe or South East Asia can develop items that can be compared across similar countries.
